Instagram commissioned us to design and install their VIP talent suite at Summer In The City— a Creator/Influencer convention at London’s Excel arena.
The brief promised an enticing opportunity for us to play with form and context. Exploring the space between a mediated reality and the actual reality. URL and IRL.
With a tight deadline we moved fast— working from concept ideation through moodboards, art direction and 3D renders to set design and installation in only three weeks.
Drawing inspiration from a single image of a crystal we uncovered during our research, we transformed 15m squared of bleak af-Wetherspoons-carpet-wasteland into a vibrant lounge built around openness, simplicity and communication, prioritizing Instagram’s desire for depth of brand immersion and quality of experience.
The space included three feature walls for on-trend content capture and a bookable mini “studio” for Creators to shoot for their Stories, Feed and IGTV around Instagram’s Create Don’t Hate anti-bullying campaign which premiered at SiTC.
The OK COOL team were on hand for all three days of the event to assist Instagram’s VIP Creator guests with creative direction and production support.
“The OK Cool team bring creativity, passion and innovation to the mix that has been instrumental in our events and productions. OK Cool always have their finger on the pulse and provide cultural and artistic insights that continue to enhance our ideas.”
